The Himalayan Honey Farm aims to produce natural honey from migrating bees which collects fresh nectar’s from flowers grown in natural vegetation in Bhutan,which cover by 60% of forest so with this pristine enviroment the bee produce honey with different flavours and colours as per the season of flowers. The demand for the natural honey in Bhutan are high in markets.
Natural honey produced in Bhutan has numerous advantages over honeyfromIndian market.As honey from Bhutan is fresh, chemical free, and of good quality as Bhutan’s having 60 % of land coverage which pristine environment to produce different honey flavour and test as per the season of the flowers.Despite the huge demand for natural honey, the production is limited because of the availability bee keepers. Only one Bee keeping association based in Bumthang is producing limited quantity because of financial and management challenges faced by the cooperatives. Identifying the potential demand, Himalayan Honey Farm aims to increase the honey production by establishing bee keeping farm in Bumthang.
The location is selected because of the suitable climatic conditions for honey production. The members are paid for the honey supplied to the Himayalan honey farm, while the firm will market the processed and packed honey, mainly within the country at present. The existing markets are retailers from Thimphu, Paro, Trashigang,P/ling and in Bumthang. The proposal highlights the marketing, operational and financial plan for another five years. The financial analysis shows the increase in the production and sales capacity by 5% every year from the base year of 2023 with the up gradation of technical equipments and infrastructure.
